I download a newer skin for DNN 6 and it has 30 Panes on it and I think I can use this for most of my page layouts.  Where before we would create different skins depending on how many columns we might need or different layouts.  I am trying to understand performance wise is having 30 panes on one skin vs 5 panes but a lot more different skins to mange?  Which is the better approach or will we have any performance issues have that many panes?

Since I pane is just a div, I would assume there wouldn't be a huge performance hit unless DNN does something server-side with them. From a maintanence stand point, I think 30 would be excessive unless absolutely needed.

Trust me I agree but it is using the 12 column layout with each row a different division. where I think for some layouts we only need a few options and get the number down a little bit more. Just trying to figure out when you are logged in as a admin of the page if anyone has run into issues having to many panes. Thanks for the comments mark.

I build multi-pane skins too and I have never experienced any real issues or performance problems.
30 panes should not be a problem IMO.
