How do you make DDRmenu v02.00.01 - DNNMega template work on tablets like IPad or Blackberry Playbook? If you hover over the parent, it flashes the sub-menu for a half second but before you can click anything it disappears. Therefore you can't select any page except for a parent page, no child page.

I've tested these tablets on other sites with drop down menus and they work. Just not the menu included with DNN 6.x

The menu does work on cell phones, just not tablets.

That a issue with all dropdown menus on touch devices, it's not specific to DNN or DDR.
The easiest way to solve this is to make sure the root menu items are not pages (no link|).
In DNN you solve this by setting the root pages as disabled in the page settings. That way a click on them will not lead you to the underlaying page but will show the drop down.

Tim, I have a third party drop down menu on one of my other sites, and I've watched Ipad user navigate this with no problem. Root and Child.
That's why I was surprised to hear complaints on DDR.

Yes, the parent has to be set to disabled, but that isn't always an option.  In fact, DotNetNuke.com has content for each of the parent pages.  This results in the page being displayed and the sub-menus disappearing.

When the parent page is disabled, the actual issue seems to be IE10, not DDR menu. Or a combination of them and some touchscreens.

Using the default BlackKnight MegaMenu that comes installed, the DDR menu behaviors:

  1. Win7/IE9 - Works. Touch reveals submenu and it stays unless other item is touched or mouse is moved.
  2. Win7/Chrome - Works. Touch reveals submenu and it stays unless other item is touched or mouse is moved.
  3. Win7/Firefox - Works. Touch reveals submenu and it stays unless other item is touched or mouse is moved.
  4. Win8/IE10 - Doesn't work. Touch reveals submenu and disappears before submenu can be selected.
  5. Win8/Chrome - Works. Touch reveals submenu and it stays unless other item is touched or mouse is moved.
  6. Win8/Firefox - Works. Touch reveals submenu and it stays unless other item is touched or mouse is moved.
  7. Droid - Works - Touch reveals submenu and it stays unless other item is touched or mouse is moved

After the test, I adjusted the jquery.dnnmega.js file to see if I could get acceptable performance in IE 10.  None of the parameter changes seems to help IE10 and resulted in other complications in the other browsers.

These tests were done on a standard installation of DNN 7.0.3.

Many someone from the Core Team can address this?

Bob, this isn't just browser/os problem ... different devices and browser versions seem to behave different. Apple has built in support to emulate hover. The menu didn't work on Blackberry Playbook. I made some .js changes and this seems to work now. I don't have a Windows 8 touch device to test.

I'm testing this on DDR menu on DNN 6.2 ... not sure if menu is different on DNN 7?
