I'm working with a template created with Advanced Config.

Googling this error, the template file <tabs> section was carefully culled for any duplicate <name> ... </name> tags and the duplicates are fully removed.  Went through some 20K + lines to do this.  But I still get the error.

A stack overflow article mentions to make sure admin tabs are not being created.  Well, we don't want our child portals to have full admin capability so of course these are selected for minimum functionality.  This way a child portal admin can't have too much power.  So this part doesn't make sense.

At any rate I need some guidelines to get our template working.   Would appreciate any input.

Admin tabs need to be part of a site template, are you able to provide full error message please.

I am creating a site template. The error message given is the full one. I checked the event viewer to see if a more complete one existed.

I'm not sure of what would cause duplicated tabs upon creating a template but that's clearly happening. Could be I have a corrupt template? Have tried recreating it.

There should be duplicate page names allowed, but not with same parent.
The original template is not used, when creating a new template from a live site.
Please be aware, that template site and target site needs to run same version of DNN.

Should be working then.

custom choices were working with another template but ill still try this.

source and destination DNN.sites are the same

if my new idea doesn't work will send screen shots of what is being done when making a template.

thanks!
