I can't change themes or skins under ADMIN/Site Settings/Appearance.
(I have permissions set by IT for the portal)

This is the error:

I need to add that the ADMIN and HOST pages are fine, but the actual website is getting critical errors.

Alexis,

From that error message it seems the system is failing to load a module that's on that page. 

Are you able to access page management and see which modules are on that page? That may help you track down the culprit.

Also, what version of DNN are you using?

When I right click to see page settings the clock spins and then the critical error shows up. I can't see what is wrong when the window spins for a few seconds.
We are using Vers. 8. We considered updating to version 9 but I have seen so many reasons on the forums here not to proceed yet.

Were you able to access Page Management and view the modules on the page?

I've included some screenshots below as to how I arrive to this area of the site to view the modules installed on a page in pre-DNN-9-versions.
