I was in the process of learning how to work with skinning and containers and everything was going along fine. Then, when I was tweaking a container, I went to parse the skin and from that point forward I receive a blank page with the following when I attempt to load the site:

An error has occurred.
        An error has occurred.

Also, this is what is in the URL:
http://localhost/DotNetNuke_4/Default.aspx?tabid=36&error=Multiple+controls+with+the+same+ID+'ctr'+were+found.+FindControl+requires+that+controls+have+unique+IDs.&content=0

I'm trying to trackdown what controls seem to have the dup ID, but I'm not having any luck so far. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Well, I still don't know why the problem started occurring, but I did find a way to correct the issue. This does assume, however, that you have ftp, or local access to the site.

All I did was to just copy the known good site (in this case, DNN_Blue) ascx, css, and xml files over the offending ones, renaming them to the new names in the process. So, I ended up with the DNN-Blue files, named as the portal I was working on. I was able to then go into admin again, and reparse the code to get working again.

theres a few main causes, Michael covers them both here http://geekswithblogs.net/flanakin/archive/2005/11/25/61188.aspx , in your case it's probably malformed html.
