I'm quite the newbie ... trying to modify the color scheme of DNN-Blue to get a handle on how all of this works.

I find that many of the "system" objects are of class SkinObject.  I've turned the horizontal bar that the menu lives on to a solid dark color.  The means that "Search" and the copyright, terms and privacy text and links are hard to see.  So ... I changed the SkinObject color to white.  This makes the date and user name and other things invisible on a white background.

What I need help understanding is how to change the class of the system objects.  Basically, I want to separate some of the SkinObject things to be a dark font and some to be a light font.

Since I haven't figured out how some of the system objects acquire SkinObject class ... it sure would be nice to get a few pointers ...

The SkinObject class covers the typcial linked elements of the skin - such as the date, user, login, copyright, help, links, breadcrumb, terms, privacy.  I always have a master set of css classes which are called LightBG & DarkBG in my css files and found that it makes my work easier since usually you're going to have either a light or dark background to work with.

You have complete flexibility with the naming of the css files, but it does mean that you have to set each area you want control over manually.  However, as I've just mentioned, by having two classes, already formatted and setup you can easily apply them.

I hope this helps.
