I want to have 2 solpart menus on the same page and need to configure and skin them differently. I think I know how to add 2 and configure them differently (XML file), but could use some pointers on skinning them differently. Can anyone provide samples of this or point me in the right direction?

If you need more specifics I can provide, but I think this gets it across.

Thanks.

You are on the right track, just extend your effort with the xml file to define new css class names for your second menu, then style those new classes in css.
I use something simple like .MainMenu_MenuContainer2, .MainMenu_MenuBar2, .MainMenu_MenuItem2, etc.
