Hi,

I need to build a webservice that will validate a user/password through DNN.  The webservice needs to be stand alone, it will be called by an application that use a DNN portal to manage its user access.

I've build one in the past for DNN 1.10 but the structure changed alot since then, and I can't get a UserController to instantiate... Does something like this already exists?  Wouldn't want to re-create the wheel....

Thanks, Mark

If all you need to is validate the user than you can create a very basic web service using the following...

<WebMethod()> _
Public Function Login(ByVal UserName As String, ByVal Password As String) As Boolean
Return System.Web.Security.Membership.ValidateUser(UserName, Password)
End Function

The reason you might want to look at http://iweb.adefwebserver.com/ is because it allows you to pass the portal number because you will need to know what portal the person is on. If you want to allow access based on the person's role you will need some additional checking for that. IWEB handles all of that. It also allows you to encrypt the password.
