I have a photo gallery module that I am writing and from the page that displays the different albums available, the user can click on one to go to view those pictures in the album. Well, since the module consists of user controls, what would that link go to? I have Albums.ascx and AlbumPics.ascx. From albums.ascx, what would the actual link be to the AlbumPics.ascx in DNN?

TIA,

David

This would depend

You need to add the control to the Module Definitions - when you do this you give the module control a key.  The defulat View control for a module has an empty key.

Now to generate the URL - use one of the NavigateURL methods.

For Example:

NavigateURL(me.TabId, "Album", "AlbumID=xx")

where Album is the key for the AlbumPics.ascx control, and AlbumID is the ID of the album which AlbumPics uses to display the appropraite album.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

Exactly what I was looking for. Could you tell me what namespace/class that method is located in?

Also. To add to that question, how would I retrieve that querystring variable from the URL on the next page? Is there a method that will do that?

Hi,

You must reference the namespace "DotNetNuke.Common".
There are 2 methods could build the URL, one is "Globals.NavigateURL" and the other is "EditUrl". You can find the tutorial in [http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/NavigateURL/].

To retrieve that querystring variable from the URL, you just simply use the HttpRequest.Params["Variable Name"].

Hope the info above could help you.
