I have done both Michael's and Vladan's turorials and have learned much from all of them.

So I can improve my tutorials, what did you find lacking in the ADefWebserver tutorials? Meaning, what objectives were you trying to accomplish that the tutorials did not address? (anyone else can also feel free to respond also :)

Thanks

Michael,

I want to thank you for sharing your expertise with the community; you really have taught me (and many others) a lot. I don't have a strong development skill set and haven't found an ASP .Net users group in my area where I can lock in on a mentor, I have to rely on the gracious efforts of others such as yourself and the rest of this community. With my lack of development experience, I'm thinking twice about expressing an opinion of how you could/should make things better. But if I were to say one thing that can improve your excellent tutorials it would be this; I really dislike inline pages. They cause me to get lost on your site and make it difficult to remember which tutorial I'm on (I spend a lot of time there). I would love to see additional categories on your menu for VWD, VS, DAL, and DAL+.

The starter kits have come a long way and I don't know if they'll become interactive, but if they were to evolve in that direction I would like to see them begin with an interview process so the end user can define fields and data types before the generation of code. Once again, that is why Code Smith is so attractive to me. When the starter kit supports this kind of functionality I truely believe its popularity will grow exponentially. When the masses can easily develop custom modules based upon their own business needs, DNN will be become a revolution.

Hai,

we really made an effort in creating interactive rapid development tools, that now also generates complete web projects to create PA's for your module in VB or C# . Maybe this can help you out on http://www.dnnkickstart.com

Now this is what I'm talking about! I downloaded the evaluation version that only allows for 4 fields, but this is definately a step in the right direction. I'm going to continue with its evaluation and believe I'll be making a purchase. My only concern is this will become an ongoing expense from version to version if there are compatibility issue. Awesome product though from what I've seen. Great job!

You can download a set of templates here that are compatible with CodeSmith v2.6 (the free version) for custom DotNetNuke 4.x module development. Like .NET Tiers, these use a master template to control a number of subtemplates, allowing you to set all your property values once and then generate multiple output files:

I tried this out and it covered all the bases for getting a project started. IMO more flexible that the starter kit templates and creates all the info class properties. Well done, sir! CodeSmith is reborn!
