Hello,

I've just become introduced to DNN and have a couple of newbie Q's. Any help will be appreciated.

1) I am currently designing a data entry program for work. It is a payroll program that will be built upon SQL 2005. Once this is complete, can I run it thru DNN? It will be installed on the in house server and used by multiple users. Speed during data entry is very important.

2) If the above is possible, would this take the place of me having to deal with ASP.Net and any VB.Net programming issues? (I guess there will always be some issues to deal with.)

3) Can DNN be set up for data entry using Palm Pilots and similar devices?

4) Are any of the products offered by Red-Gate Software and/or others required for the above to happen?

Thanks.

Bill

1.) You could build your application as a DotNetNuke Module, but it must be built specifically to be compatible with DotNetNuke.

2.) I am not sure what "issues" you are talking about.  The development of a DotNetNuke Module still using ASP.NET and either VB or C# depending on your desires.

3.) I know that I can view my DNN sites from a Windows Moble Smart Phone, as for optimized for mobile use like that I am not sure.

4.) No, not to my knowledge.

1) If you create a corresponding module for DNN, you should be able to view the data from your DNN website. Depending on how you create your module, your users can add/edit information to the tables.
2) To create the module, you will have to be familiar with ASP.NET and VB.NET programming. If you want to do something simple like just view the data from your data entry program via your dnn site, you could possibly do this with the reports module - probably though with some code changes since the report module looks at the DNN database.
3) Depending on how you setup the DNN website, you could create a module which is optimized for Palm Pilots, etc (page resolution, etc is what's important here).
4) Not sure what you mean by this question.
