Hello,

I am working on porting a website into a DNN 4 Module. This module will allow users to upload files from within the module. What is the best location to store these files? Portals/x/UploadFiles OR DesktopModules/MyModule/UploadFiles. I would like to hear any pros or cons on these locations.

Secondly, I want to add a HttpHandler, do I add it just like I did in the web site, entry in web.config and .ashx files or is there any special things I have to do to make it work in my module.

Thanks

For my DefMatchGame module I put them under DesktopModules. I have never had any problems.

The FotoVision module puts them under Portals. This turned out to be a pain because I assumed that with "Portal/x" that "x" would always be the portal number. this is not always the case. DotNetNuke allows you to make "x" the actual name of your portal. I think it even allows for spaces.

The disadvantage of using DesktopModules is that the DotNetNuke file manager cannot see files that are there. With DefMatchGame I just made my own file manager.

Also, both DefMatchGame and FotoVision are free modules so you can download the code and use it.
