I assume you mean the "App_Code" folder :)

If you have a .vb file that is associated with an .ascx file (the file that has the button in it). That .vb file should reside in the same directory as the .ascx file not the "App_Code" folder.

For starters - I would suggest getting hold of a couple of good books on ASP.NET 2.0 and maybe on of the DNN 4 books.  Though the progamming DNN content is still relatively small.

Your best best however - is to read thru completely the DNN 4 Module Developers Guide which is downloadable from the Download section elsewhere on www.dotnetnuke.com

It should help you greatly with getting started on the concepts - which is where you understanding needs to start.

As to you direct question:

When you create a mymodule.aspx user control in the MS2005 IDE it will also create a mymodule.aspx.vb - code behind file - both of which will be stored in the SAME folder.

These two files should be placed in the DesktopModules subdirectory - in a new folder say - \mymodule\

The onclick event for a submit button would then be placed inside mymodule.aspx.vb.

>>>

As to what the App_Code folder is all about - this is where you place code that is not directly related to a specific user control -  this might be function librarys or database access DAL or DAL+ class definitions and such.

Thanks for the replies but neither reply comes close to the question I need to know how to trigger the add event in the App-code VB files from the bottom in my desktop module submit button.  And yes I have several books and none of them explain it either it seems to be left to magic.

The process seems to be extraordinarily complex and constant redefining the data types and Vars seems to be over kill

Hmm ok... If you double-click on the button on your form it will wire-up a method in the code behind page (that will also reside in the DesktopModule folder). That method can then call a method in the "App_Code" folder.
