I am using VS 2005 and DNN 441 Starter Kit, and SQL 2000, IIS virtual directory.

Got it all set up, website created, and created two modules and manually entered their definitions in DNN. Have tested them on web page and all is fine - they work as expected.

But now I want to publish so I can deploy on a production server. In VS under "build" all I see is build, rebuild or publish website, and not build solution (as I am used to seeing in past). I have built the website, no errors, and I published it as well, no errors. But there are no dll files being generated for the two modules I created.

I also do not see the "compile module" option when on the Edit Module Definition screen for my modules.

What aren't I doing right?

I assume from your post that you have built your modules using the Dynamic Module approach.

Given this - the first question is - do you actually NEED to compile your modules.
Using the dynamic module approach there is actually no NEED to compile a module ever.

You can simply deploy you module to your production server - and it will work perfectly.

You can do this either manually - copy all the files including the .vb code files to the server and create the module entries - or you can create the module using the CREATE MODULE PACKAGE option in the Edit Module area.

>>>>>>

If on the other have you really do need to deploy a compiled version - that is - dont put the .vb code on the production server - then the steps outlined on  Michael Washingtons doc on deploying a dynamic module can be followed.

In my case this is a one-time use for this module, so I probably don't need to package it.

I had already looked at the resource you provided, Michael, but as my initial post says, I don't see the "Create Module Package" link on the "Edit Module" page.
