Newbie here:
Could someone help me understand what is going on.
I use a javascript file which I insert in my module.
<script src="/dnnWeb/Portals/0/scripts/search.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

my problem is that the script expects the id of a control to be what I set in the .ascx file, which is "ddlUnSelected".
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlUnSelected" runat="server" />

But what ends up in the browser is:
id="dnn_ctr378_ViewmogEnergy_ViewmogEnergy_ddlUnSelected"

Is there somewhere in any documentation that talks about what is happening?
Can I override the dnn renaming my elements?
I am not using the events or linking to datasources with the control.

Thanks...

Its asp.net that handles the id code - not DNN

The id has to be controlled by ASP.NET to prevent collisions between modules.  This is especially the case given that it is entirely possible - and common - to have multiple copies of the same module on a page.

If you need to access a control from client side - have at look around for documentation on using the ClientId code instead of the ControlId.  And can be located using methods like FindControl - which will return the control you are looking for - including the ASP.NET altered id code.

Alternatively - exactly what are you doing in JavaScript.

Seems like for most applications you could inject the JavaDcript into the control at runtime and trigger the actions from events on the control - onLoad,OnClick, OnChange etc.

In which case you should have a pointer to the control you are working with passed into the event.

I've the same problem, The idea is to hide/show some rows in a module. Just by adding a javascript in the ASCX file.

document.getElementByID("rowFolders1").style.display = 'inline'

Thanks for your help
