I have created a module, added it to the site, then added it to a page .No problems, it works.

Created another module., but when I add it to a page, nothing happens. There are no message, nothing in the log. I have done everything exactly the same, just nothing happens. This happens with any new module I create.

The ascx control is created and added to the Desktop module folder. The control inherits from Entities.Modules.PortalModuleBase.
The control is called ConfirmPurchase.ascx.
It is in a folder called ConfirmPurchase.
It is in a namespace called USS.Modules.ConfirmPurchase
The class is called ConfirmPurchase.

I select Add New Module in the moddule definitions page.

I Enter ConfirmPurchase into ModuleName,Friendly Name,Folder name and description.

I add add definition called ConfirmPurchase.

I add a control. I enter ConfirmPurchase for the Key and the title. I select the ConfirmPurchase.ascx from the drop-down menu, and specify edit as the type. Then I click on Update. The control appear in the controls list in the module definition page.

I then go to a page on my websit to add the module. Everything looks OK so far, and the module that i have created is in the module drop-down list at the top of the page. I select my module, (confirmPurchase), enter a title, and click on the Add button.

Nothing Happens!

There is no error message, it is just that nothing appears on the form.

I am using DotNetNuke 4.04.01 in Windows XP Pro, with VisualStudio Professional 2005. The database is runnig on SQLServer 2005 (Not Express).

Please help!

When you create a module, in the module definition, you have to have one control that is a "View" control with no key if you want something to show up when you add the module to the page.

So it appears you need to remove the "ConfirmPurchase" for the key. Also you want to specify "view" for the type not edit.

Now, if what you really want to do is add an Edit control for an existing module, You want to add the control definition to the module definition you already created for the View control you already have working.

See:

Using the DotNetNuke Website Starter Kit

for a complete example

Thank you very much Michael.

I was entering a value for the key, and I  must have left it blank on the first module that I created.

You've save my bacon, as I was starting to run out of time.

Cheers,

Paul

Also I have a bunch of code at:

http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/

There is a search on that page that will search my site for code examples (of course you can use Google to search the entire web). I'm sitting here pounding out DotNetNuke code all day long like most of you and I try to post examples that I find helpful.
