I can't believe that I can't find this....but this is what I need to do.

I have a module that is storing the name of a role, say "Registered Users" for now.

I need to get a list of the users in that role.  I need at least display name and userid to bind to a drop down listing.

I know there has to be a way to do this using DNN functions, but I can't seem to find them.

Hi Mitchel,

This is a little hidden from where your probably looking.

DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController oRoleController = new DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController();
ArrayList alUsers = oRoleController.GetUsersByRoleName(this.PortalId, "Sales");

foreach(DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.UserInfo oUserInfo in alUsers)
{
Response.Write(oUserInfo.Username + "<br />");
}

HTH's,

Dave

Check out Admin/Security/SecurityRoles.ascx.vb

                Dim RoleName As String = objRoleController.GetRole(RoleId, PortalId).RoleName
                grdUserRoles.DataKeyField = "UserId"
                grdUserRoles.Columns(2).Visible = False
                grdUserRoles.DataSource = objRoleController.GetUserRolesByRoleName(PortalId, RoleName)
                grdUserRoles.DataBind()
 Cheers
