Hi there, I've created a news ticker module which uses a javascript library called jQuery (http://jquery.com/) to fade news items in and out. I had to specify "conflict mode" for jQuery to work correctly with DNN - related to the use of $ when calling functions. So in conflict mode you have to write jQuery.doSomething() instead of $.doSomething().

That's all ok so far, but now I've found that when logged in as an editor (when you can see the content areas and the control panel at the top), the jQuery code no longer works. This must be because DNN is using some javascript that is breaking the jQuery code. But it does work after you press the "Preview" button at the top of the screen!

Has anyone encountered this before or have any idea what is causing it? Thanks.

Just come across the $ issue. Replacing that with jQuery did the trick, cheers.

I haven't had the other issue, but I would guess it is a clash between the dnn.controls.dnnlabeledit.js, which is only used in edit mode and jQuery.js.

Happy to help! jQuery is great isn't it. This is where I found the information about getting away from the $ function:
