We have several PDF forms that post to a module I created (to an ASPX page) and then merges whatever was posted with an actual PDF, and subsequently emails it to somebody... on our previous intranet everything was linked by the file:/// protocol so this problem (that I'm going to describe) never occurred... but now because of the way DNN allows easy linking to files, a problem has been introduced.

The problem is that if we link a file in the "links" module, for example, it creates a fileticket url similar to this: (http://mac/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=qq1H4GwaDn0%3d&tabid=446&mid=1413) -- this of course opens the PDF, and can post to the PDFPoster... the problem is that the way the PDF poster works is it extracts the path from which is was submitted (one of the XFDF fields in the adobe posting spec) and then uses that for merging.  Problem with the fileticket is that is all it gives me, but I really need to get the actual file path to work with it.

The question is, how does the "LinkClick.aspx" (which I can't find anywhere) extract the path and send the file out to the browser?  If I could reuse that same functionality, I'll be sailing nicely.

Thanks in advance

Check out ProcessRequest() in FileServerHandler.vb and DownloadFile() in FileSystemUtils.vb in the \Library\Components\FileSystem\ folder for the handling of those links.

Looks like the basics are:

Dim objFile As DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FileInfo = objFiles.GetFileById(FileId, PortalId)
Select Case objFile.StorageLocation
    Case FolderController.StorageLocationTypes.InsecureFileSystem
        strFile = objFile.PhysicalPath
    Case FolderController.StorageLocationTypes.SecureFileSystem
        strFile = objFile.PhysicalPath & glbProtectedExtension
End Select

strFile being the actual path to the file.

Hope it helps,

Thank you, this is exactly what I'm looking for... just didn't know where to look.
