Question mostly for Michael Washington:

I am trying to add a dynamically created control into a DynamicControlsPlaceholder, but adding an event to this control is not working.  It looks something like this:

Dim lb as New LinkButton()
phDynamic.Controls.Add(lb)
lb.Text = "something"
AddHandler lb.Click AddressOf linkButton_Click

But the Click event never fires, any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks,

JK.

I think it has to be:

Dim lb as New LinkButton()
lb.Text = "something"
AddHandler lb.Click AddressOf linkButton_Click

phDynamic.Controls.Add(lb)

I think you have to have the .Add last.

Hi Michael,

Unfortunately, the DynamicControls help file says that you must do the .Add() before you set any properties (otherwise they will not be restored from viewstate on pageload). I will quickly try it anyway .... (compile, run, ...) ... no that doesnt seem to do it.  I will keep looking into it...

Thanks

JK.

Have you tried setting the ID property of the control before adding it to the DynamicPlaceHolder? Also I believe that Denis has provided both a ControlRestore and PostRestore event which may need to be handled to re-add your event handler.

Hi - I set the ID after adding it to the DynamicPlaceHolder (as indicated by their help file), and the ControlRestore event is not firing either.  The .Click event is not even firing the first time it is clicked. I am doing something else right now, but will get back to this issue and post an update if/when I solve it.

Thanks,

JK
