First I just want to say thank you for helping! I need to be able to log information about user activities, for example who deleted or added what and when and my requirement is that this type of audit trail must be available for 6 months. This is an intranet site with a handful of users taking steps that must be tracked for audit purposes and just to track down who made what changes at what times. I considered using the eventlog for this but it looked like its archival was geared towards number of events tracked e.g. max of 500 events and not towards time. If I could drive the event cleanup by time this would come very close. I would also like to extend this functionality across multiple modules so it doesnt make sense for me to put this in a separate module. 1) Is there a way to log activity that will not be deleted for 6 mo? 2) Is there a hook in the framework to allow me to created my own logger? 3) Is the event log stored in a database or flat file? I would prefer to log this to a database for reporting and backup/restore purposes.
