Is there a way to pass the user credentials thru to SQL Server or Oracle?  Basically I'd like to create a module that when run, the SQL script is run under the permissions of the logged in user rather than the system account.  That way the rows/columns are filtered by SQL Servers permissions and returned.

Can anybody point me to document or blog posting?

Thanks.

as rows and columns are always owned by DNN, using any server side personalization is not useful. The recommended way is using stored procedured, that might get passed the userID or login name as additional parameter and return only appropriate records. HTH

So there is NO way to pass NT authentication credentials of the user logged on thru to the dataprovider for SQL Server?  It's fine if there isn't I'm just trying to confirm wether it is doable or not.

I'm looking to clone the SQL module in the host menu and modify to be able to take in a connection string as well.  But I need to be able to pass the NT authentication credentials over to SQL so it can filter the rows and columns allowed for the individual.

Is there a way?

Found a solution...

System.Security.Principal.WindowsImpersonationContext impersonationContext;
System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity x = HttpContext.Current.Request.LogonUserIdentity;

//start impersonation
impersonationContext = ((System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity)x).Impersonate();

//Place Code Here To run under impersonated user

//end impersonation
impersonationContext.Undo();
