Dear All

I am building my first bespoke module today and have a datalist display some data with a link button against each record.  Clicking the link button is supposed to raise the ItemCommand of the datalist.

When I am logged in as the "host" account this works fine, the ItemCommand fires just as I would expect but when I am not logged in (i.e. I am an anonymous user) the page appears to be processing on click of the link button but the ItemCommand event is NOT fired.

I have modelled my code on the blog and links modules and can't see any difference in terms of how I am structuring this call.  I recently read that the ViewState might be causing the link button to be rendered as normal HTML...

... so has anyone had this problem and can you help me resolve it?

Kevin

I think I have found the answer to this - I needed to set the Cache Time (in seconds) to 0 under the Module Settings : Page Settings.  Presumably this caching was getting in the way of events firing as I expected.

Make sure you set it to 0 in module definitions AND in page settings on the page where the module resides.

This has caused me a lot of problems in the past.

Surely this should be set as a default to 0?

Thanks for your help all, this was exactly the issue and was a real newbie question.  My preferred approach now is to set teh "Default Cache Time" for my bespoke modules when I click on the edit button against the module in "Module Definitions" when logged in as host.

This is the way to set the default to 0 Mike.
