Hi,

I'm new to DNN .. great system, but I'm having some difficulty which I believe is a result of my lack of experience with DNN.

I created module to show product details based on the product id passed in the querystring. I want to add search functionality, so I implemented ISearchable, and everything works fine, in terms of the search returning information I want found, and hyperlinking to my module. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how get the product id to my module.

Right now, I'm passing the product id in the SearchKey parameter of the SearchItemInfo() constructor, in my ISearchable::GetSearchItems() implementation. I assumed this SearchKey would be passed to my module some how, but it's not immediately obvious to me exactly how I would find it.

I looked into the Survey tutorial, hoping to get a clue, but appears to have one question per module instance, so the search key doesn't need to be passed, as long as it points to the page with the correct module instance. I suppose this functionality could be mimicked if I only had a single product per module instance, but that's just not practical for my requirements.

I'd prefer to use the built in DNN search functionality over building a new search control.

Thanks in advance for any help.
John

You can pass the it in the URL as a parameter like http://www.mysite.com/default.aspx/prodID/XX for more on module development check the Module developer's guide in the documentation section of the site.

OK ... I get it now.

For the record, my mistake was passing the productid=xx into the search key, when it should have been the Guid parameter.

Thanks hooligannes for the hint.

Regards,
John
