I've got my super paranoid AJAX efficiency hat on today!

I need a repeater control as I need a lot of flexibility with my output (as opposed to a grid).  However, I need paging functionality which the repeater doesn't support out of the box.  Obviously I want to continue to use my DAL+ layer, and so use an ObjectDataSource.

Scott Guthrie has a blog entry on implementing an efficient paging mechanism (link below), but I wonder if anyone has any tips and advice on implementing such a thing in the world of DNN.

http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/01/07/434787.aspx

I want to have AJAX paging functionality, and rather than using the standard UpdatePanel and letting .net handle the postbacks, I often like to use webservices which just return the data as this is more efficient.

So, any tips, guidance and warning shots appreciated.
