Got this error:

Failure ExceptionSystem.Xml.XmlException: Reference to undeclared entity 'x'. Line 23, position 118. at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.HandleGeneralEntityReference(String name, Boolean isInAttributeValue, Boolean pushFakeEntityIfNullResolver, Int32 entityStartLinePos) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.HandleEntityReference(Boolean isInAttributeValue, EntityExpandType expandType, Int32& charRefEndPos) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseAttributeValueSlow(Int32 curPos, Char quoteChar, NodeData attr) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseAttributes() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseElement() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseElementContent() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read() at System.Xml.XmlLoader.LoadNode(Boolean skipOverWhitespace) at System.Xml.XmlLoader.LoadDocSequence(XmlDocument parentDoc) at System.Xml.XmlLoader.Load(XmlDocument doc, XmlReader reader, Boolean preserveWhitespace) at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(XmlReader reader) at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(String filename) at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.Config.AddCodeSubDirectory(String name) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.CreateModuleFile(PaFile File, PaFolder Folder) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.CreateFiles(PaFolder Folder) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.Install(PaFolderCollection folders) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()

I already installed the same module from the same zip file on to my laptop dotnetnuke website and it works fine

I made some small changes to the starter dotnetnuke module and changed the YourCompany to "dctech" where appropriate.

When I try to install the same module on a ihostasp.net dotnetnuke version 4.4.1 it fails after the settings.ascx.resx file is created.

It should then create the dataprovider file and not sure why it won't create it.

Any ideas would be helpful

please review the dnn file you are using, it probably has an error  "Reference to undeclared entity 'x'. Line 23, position 118" should be a hint to where to find the error

It should be the hint, but the dnn file has no line 23 with any issue.

SInce I have a good install on the laptop version, I think the dnn is good or may need some other input.

Based on the install process of the dotnetnuke website on my laptop, it should be creating the dataprovider.vb file at the point that it is failing on the ihostasp.net site.

If after the failed attempt I look at the file structure, I see that it created the desktop modules files ok but there are no app_code files.

I believe that the problem some how involves the file creation of these app_code files.
