Hi, i have created a simple Module with two Gridviews that are bound to a datatable, the first one is populated when i click the connect server button and the second one is populated when i click on a row command in the first Gridview!!

After i installed the module, it works 100% in the Edit Mode for both gridviews etc. But when i switch over to the View Mode nothing works!!

Can someone please help me with this problem please!

Thanks

Abe

I am having the exact same problem with a FormView control. The FormView is bound to an ObjectDataSource. I have item, edit, and insert templates defined. In Edit mode, I can view multiple records, edit a selected record and insert new records. In View Mode, the first record is displayed and all buttons/links do not function properly. When I click on a button (e.g., the Edit button to take me into the FormView edit mode), there is browser activity, but nothing happens. The FormView and the ObjectDataSource are the only controls in my module view control. The module and the page have edit privilege granted to all users.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank,

Todd

I found the fix to my problem. It requires changing the module's the cache setting. I read in another posting that you need to set the cache setting for the module to 0 (zero second) or -1 (module does not support caching) to ensure that controls like GridView, FormView, etc. update correctly in View mode. If you use the VWD templates for module development, the default cache value (in the associated .dnn file) is 60. This value will not work. You change this setting by editing the module's definition on the Host -> Module Definition page. It was also suggested that you edit the associated .dnn file to contain the same cache value. Not sure why, but this seemed to help my problem. Also, I found that -1 worked more reliably than 0. Although I was able to get both values to work.

I hope this helps.

Todd
