Hi.  I built a dnn module for a client, and the module contained a setting named "FileLocation".  The customer is reporting that when he sets the value of "FileLocation", within one hour that setting will be erased and he'll have to set it again.  Basically he has to fix it every hour because it keeps erasing it's value.  I'm still very new to dnn, and was hoping someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong that would cause this to happen?

In the Settings.ascx.vb UpdateSettings() method I have this code to save the update:

TabModuleSettings("FileLocation") = txtLocation.Text.Trim

Is this the correct way to be saving the setting value?  Any help appreciated.  Thanks

Its a bit more involved than that . . . Your code is only updating the value in the TabModuleSettings hashtable stored in memory.  Apparently the settings tables are cached for a long enough duration such that the setting seems to be retained for a while.  Here's what you need to do in the UpdateSettings method to persist changes to the database:

Dim mc As New DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.ModuleController
With mc

  'Example for a TabModuleSetting
  .UpdateTabModuleSetting(Me.TabModuleId, "FileLocation", txtLocation.Text.Trim())

  'Example for a ModuleSetting
  .UpdateModuleSetting(Me.ModuleID, "AnotherSetting", txtAnotherValue.Text.Trim())
End With
