Hello,

In my module I want to redirect the anonymous user to the Login/Register page if they are tying to access a UserControl that requires the user to be authenticated.

  • What is the best way to do this?
  • What would be the code I would use. I also want the user to redirected back to the url they were trying to access after they Login or register. I think I would need to use returnUrl?

Thanks

We have done this in the past using a SKIN element that looks to see if a user has view permissions for the page as it loads.

If the user does not have VIEW permission - we redirect them to the login module with the 'returnurl' qurerystring value set to the current page.

Doing something like this:

_returnURL = HttpUtility.UrlEncode(NavigateURL())
_RedirectURL = NavigateURL(PortalSettings.LoginTabId) & "?returnurl=",_returnURL"
response.redirect( _RedirectURL)

Westa
