Hello:

I am building a skin object.  However, I only want to update an increment/decrement value to the server object.  I'm using DNN 4.7.

Is there any documentation for this?  I've read the documents numerous times over the last few years, but the dates on all the documents I have still say late 2005, so I'm not sure if they've been updated yet.

If not fully documented yet, can someone tell me what class I inherit from?  Would it still be SkinObjectBase?  Also, I noticed a skinobject.js file (and a couple of others, including a yourcompany.skinwidget.samplewidget.js file).  What vb objects are these associated with?

Any info on the above questions would be greatly appreciated.

Did I put this question in the wrong forum?  Is there any documentation for ajax skin objects available?  I have a Monday deadline to buidl this, and am willing to work all weekend, and I've built numerous skin objects inheriting from SkinObjectBase, but SkinObjectBase doesn't deal w/AJAX.  I'd truly appreciate it if someone on the forum team w/knowledge of skin objects in DNN 4.7+ could point me in the right direction...

If this is posted in the wrong forum (should this be in the skinning forum?) I would also appreciate it if perhaps you could move it to the correct forum...

Thanks in advance...

Hey Curly:

And I'm confused about what is confusing.  I'm trying to create a DotNetNuke AJAX Skin Object.  For a non-AJAX Skin Object I inherit from SkinObjectBase.

But how do I create an ASP.NET AJAX-based Skin Object?  What class do I inherit from?  I hope someone can help me, since Monday is creeping closer...

Is this clear?  It's pretty much a copy of above, but I don't know of a better way to word this.  Perhaps some code...

Normally to create a skinobject one creates a class that starts as follows:

Public Class MySkinObject : Inherits SkinObjectBase

...

End Class

If I want to create an AJAX Skin Object, the above doesn't handle AJAX at all.  Would I have to create my own Class to handle the AJAX and then inherit from this?  I had thought that DNN 4.7 was ASP.NET AJAX supported, which is why I assume that there is also a way to inherit an AJAXable DNN Skin Object...

Thanks for your help and any insight...

hi Andyah,
for creating a skin object you still have in inherit from skinobjectbase.  dnn supports asp.net ajax by registering the ajax base but you'll still need to know how to use those classes.  i recommend watching some of the ajax tutorials.
