Hi there,

with VS2005 I have simply set the IISUrl of the WAP to something like http://localhost/MyDNN_Installation and thus I was able to debug my module by simply pressing F5. VS2005 would have started the DNN and everything was as expected.

NOW with VS2008 I cannot enter the existing DNN URL because then VS2008 complains that it needs to setup a proper virtual directory by that name. Once I say ok (knowing that it's not gonna work beforehand anyway) it then tells me that this name is already been taken (surprise).
Of course I can enter a new name and have VS2008 create that virtual directory but that's not what I want obviously.

As I know that some of you guys out there are already using VS2008 for daily module development tasks I am sure that there is a solution for this and that I am just too blind to see... :-)

So - pretty please - help me out here!

Cheers,

Tillman

Don't recall where I've seen it but in a nutshell, you need to set the IISUrl to the path of the module, not the path of the DNN application.  For example: http://localhost/dnndev/DesktopModules/SomeModule

then set the override root application url to http://localhost/dnndev and also set the start url to the same.  I have converted roughly 15 modules to use VS2k8 now instead of 2k5 and have had to do that on every one of them.

Thanks for your reply. I have already tried that and am using this as some kind of interim solution since to me this really feels like some hack.

It does work but it just does not look right if you know what I mean. :-)

Cheers,
