I have a custom module that I'm working on that when it is present on a page and I minimize another module (lets say a Text/HTML), in internet explorer it causes a postback and minimizes it.  If you try to maximize it, the postback happens again, it shows it maximizing and then it flashes back to being minimized.  The only way to get it to show again is to clear cookies.  On that same note if the module is removed while it was still in it's minimized state I can maximize it but it defaults to being minimized all the time (checking the module settings shows that it should be maximized).  Clearing cookies again fixes this.

This behavior does not happen in Firefox, Opera, or Safari so it is definitely something wacko with IE.

The module injects a few different javascript functions into the page though none of them should affect the javascript used by the Min/Max function (doesn't use the same method names or anything).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Can see an example of this strange functionality by going to http://demo.seeleyware.com/Demos/SWDockMenuDemo/tabid/62/Default.aspx and minimizing one of the text modules.  Again, only happens in IE6+.

I have the same problem in IE6 and just now also IE7 on vista. I see it when I maximize the admin sections, they expand and immediately collapse.

I changed to vista last week (new harddisk) and until today I did not have this problem but now I have. It seems to me machine ralated and not so much IE itself.

Did you find the cause?

Peter

I haven't figured out the cause of it yet but I don't think it is really machine related.  I have tested this on several machines, three on Vista, one on Windows Server 2003, and two on XP.  Out of those, the only one running IE6 is one of the XP machines, the rest are running IE7.  One thing I noticed was that in the page source there is a script resources that shows up twice in the page source with minimal differences between the two, have no idea if that has anything to do with it.

It is a combination of certain modules on the pages -- modules that have javascript interracting with the page.  I know that if I remove any instances of the SW.DockMenu, for example, it works just fine (the modules minimize with postbacks) but the moment I introduce those it decides it wants to postback instead of use javascript to minimize/maximize.  All the other browsers are ok with it, however, and using the javascript console I can't see any errors so I don't know what is going on.

This strange behavior happens to me every time in admin --> site settings. I cross posted on the "let's chat" forum to get more people notice the post.

Hi guys,

Yeah it happen to us too. Its not just on Admin -> Site settings. in our case its basically happen on all min/max control when viewed under Ie7 only.
From memory, we had tested this on IE 6,  but cannot see this issue. very strange. FireFox 2 does not have this problem.

The DNN version we used is 4.8.2

We found that to get around this issue is that once your click on the the min/max icon on the panel that you wish to maximize for example, you then click on a different min/max icon for a different panel.

Does any one have a fix to this?
