I'd like to have one my my installed modules (a customized version of the store module) make a call to a web service.

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 (not the express edition) for development of the DNN 4.8.4 install.

I've added the web service and Visual Studio has added the files into the App_WebReferences folder of the website.  But when I go to add the reference to the service from the module, visual studio cannot find it.

My goal is to go out to the web service, get the information that I'm looking for, store it in a variable, and then add that variable to a string for display.  I'd like to be able to do that all within the ProductDetail.ascx.cs file.  Is this even possible?  Am I missing a step, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Greg

I am new to dnn too, so someone correct me if I am wrong.

I can't get 4.8.4 to work with stores module becasue it keep giving me some error. Used 4.8.4 and no problem.

So based on my experience, the stores modules is not compatiable with 4.8.4.

Once again, this could just be my personal setup. xp sp3 (I think it was sp2 when I tried 4.8.4), IIS6 Manager (special download from MS), MS SQL Server 2000. .NET 2.0, VS2005 Pro.

Johnny - you totally hijaacked his thread.

For web services info, go see Michael Washington's site (adefwebserver.com I think) for some further info and tutorials on this. There's also an enrty in the Forge (click the Forge icon at the top of the page) for an ongoing WS project that was planted by MW and taken over by someone else for further work.

As to your question J, the store is compatible with 484. Maybe what you are encountering is the memory leak with the tax provider? Hard to know because you leave it as a guessing game as to what problem you are encountering. If it's a memory leak in the tax provider, a fix is available. If it's something else, please post more info.
