Hi,

Could I Extend the Rich Text Editor in such a way that every user (every registered user) has its own sort of "root" folder in the File Manager?

I'm thinking that every user has its own folder in the File Manager. If I have 2 registered user, lets say UserID = 100 and 101, the folders in the File manager have folders "100" and "101"

If im logged in as userId 100, then, when I click the Insert/Edit Image, the popup appears and points to his own "root" folder, which is folder "100". And other folders that is created for other user and admin will not be displayed/accessed.

Any idea on how to do this? I'm still new to DNN and ASP.NET. any comments/ideas/workaround will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Well I was hoping someone else would take a stab at answering this, since I am alos interested to know.

I think anytime you open the door for the general public to write access you are opening a can of worms that only looks good from the outside.

Since it alrrady allow user to select folders and upload. If you create a module that access the perosnalization api and set the folder path of the fckeditor to the use's folder (that you create) then it may do what you are talking about.

Hi Legendlink,

It's been a bit since I've looked at the an HtmlProvider, so you'll have to forgive me if my guidance is a bit general in nature.

The functionality you describe is possible.  I know that the Telerik RadEditor DNN HtmlEditor provider supports folders on a per-user basis.  If you can get your hands on that, you might see how they've implemented it (as I said, its been awhile since I've looked).  I do not know if the default DNN FCKEditor supports this sort of thing, but it is at least remotely possible with a custom provider.

Hope this gets you started!

Hi Brandon,

Sorry I replied a little late. Thanks for your reply.

I had a quick check now on the RadEditor. I downloaded the trial version of the RadEditor lite. But there are only .dlls for the sourcecodes, I might not get to understand how they implemented it. Do Telerik provide sample codes for their modules?

I will also ask if the FCKEditor supports this in the FCKEditor Provider forum.

Cheers

Hi Legendlink,

I do not recall offhand if Telrik provides provider source for non-license versions of their editor software, so you'll have to contact them directly on that front.
