I got a form that needs scrolling down to fill in.

On validation the form will show the validationsummary. After the postback however the form does not maintain the scrollposition of the page so you have to scroll down again to see what happened.

I have tried:
putting MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback in the web.config, have tried to set it with code on page load, page init but none are working.

The only (in my case not usable) workaround I found so far is to enable the showmessagebox of the validationsummary. When I enable this it doesn't actually maintain the scrollposition but the textfield that not validated and gets focus is put at the very bottom of the "view" of the user. Not ideal + you have to use the messagebox which I don't want either.

Do you know a solution for this? (perhaps custom javascript?)

You can try AJAX.

1. Enable AJAX for your site.

Go to Host > Host Settings > Advanced Settings > Other Settings and click "Enable AJAX".

2. Make sure your module supports partial rendering.

Go to Host > Module Definitions, click to edit your module, click to edit the module control you're working with, then make sure the "Supports Partial Rendering" option is checked for that module control.

 

This is the cleanest way to do it - no flickering postback, and the results will appear more quickly.
