Firstly I'm not shure if this is the right forum to post it in but here it comes :)

I'm in the process of building a website using DNN 4 and VS 2005, and have been trying to use the "build in" SOLPartMenu in my skin.

Unfortunately I'm not completely satisfied with the way this menu is used and was wondering if I should try to make another one based on one of the .Net webmenus I have grown used to working with.

I'm just quite unsure about how to do this in the smartest way. I have been looking into the structure with the NavObjectBase class, the abstract NavigationProvider and the possibility of making another Provider for my own menu.

My problem here is just that the properties of the menu is built in to both the NavObjectBase and the Abstract provider, so it will make it hard to use different properties for my own menu.

My question is: Woll I have to make a similar implementation or can I make a simple usercontrol for the menu and still be able to populate it from the DNN tab structure like the SolPartMenu ?

Thanks in advance

You will need to create a menu provider like http://www.telerik.com/dnn and http://www.componentart.com have done to make it work dynamically with DotNetNuke.

It seems you have the knowledge to work in this space, so seeing how it's done by these two independent providers might give you more information to work with.

Hey thanks for the reply.

I'm quite shure I could grasp the concepts from these two examples you posted, if I could just see how they have done it.

The only thing I could find from Telerik was an EditorProvider.

Maby I'm being stupid here and overlook the obvious ??
