hi all,

i am currently working with  new web application that will hook up on the current web app that built in (DNN). I'm just wondering how can I use the existing database info of a user (userid and password) to my new application. I am thinking if i can manually throw a query from the db that contains user credential.

thanks

I don't have a good answer for you, as I've not tried it, but I can tell you that if you run a query against the DB you'll also need to decrypt the password using the machinekey values in the DNN web.config file. The passwords are stored encrypted in the database.

thanks chris!

the new web app will run on the same web server where the existing site(built on dnn) run. I knew that the password is encrypted, i'm just wondering if I can use the machine key values in the dnn web.config(copy it on my web.config) But the problem is i didn't know how the DNN decrypt it. (we don't have the source code of the DNN).
