Could someone lead me in the right direction. I am trying to find documentation on having something run on the server side and when it finds something updated, it sends a popup window to the user.
Does that make sense?

i can think of a couple of ways to do this...

-make an ajax component that does the polling and then runs the client side script when it comes back positive.

have a component that just polls on every load (produces client-side script that pops the window when a positive result is obtained) and set the page to reload occasionally automatically (you can do this in DNN in the page settings).

Well I can't set the page to reload automatically, because of what it's used for.
With ajax I don't need reload the page to create a pop window?
Could you explain ajax a little more and maybe send me in the right direction to look at some sample code?
