hello;

i'm trying to change the password for a user dynamically by calling UserController.ChangePassword.

i keep getting the error: "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: passwordAnswer" though password answer and question are already set

anyway, i noticed that it's a known issue, but i didn't really find a resolution!

note: i'm using DNN 4.9 ..

thx in advance.

take a look at \Website\admin\Users\Password.ascx.vb the cmdUpdate_Click sub will show you how to do it -you want to pass in a copy of the current user object, and just supply the old and new password to the changepassword method.

Thx Cathal,

i solved the problem partially by updating the passwords of the users directly via SQL update statements ...

anyway, the problem still exists, cuz when a regular user attemps to change his password, or me as an admin tries to change some user's password ..the same error occures ...

what setting are you using for requiresQuestionAndAnswer in the web.config, I seem to recall requiresQuestionAndAnswer="true" had some issues (such as http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=3747&PROJID=2 ), perhaps only the front end parts were resolved and the direct API call's weren't. Also what version of dnn are you running?
