My company does not want users to have to fill in a username and a displayname seperately. They want 1 username field that serves both purposes.
Next to that, they also want a few other changes like some already visible help info instead of pressing the questionmarks for info etc (this I can possibly talk them out of though).

What is the best way to achieve the above? I'm not too fond of editing core code so I am thinking of creating a custom registration module. Is there another easyer way to do this? is there any good documentation on this somewhere cuz the dotnetnuke documentation only helps a bit...

Thanks in advance.

  • You can specify the display name to be created automatically from first name and last name - I am not sure, if username is available as well.
  • You may place the login module on a separate page and add as much additional help text as you like.
  • To alter existing texts, use the language editor in Admin menu.

Thanks alot for this tip Sebastian. Hadn't noticed that yet. You can use any token so I'm gonna test right now if it works for the username aswell, looks like it does though.

Is it also possible to have the user enter their email twice somehow?
