I need to create an index page that basically takes products from the category, displays thumbnail images and short descriptions about the product.  They will be a "gateway" to each product.  The page needs to show the thumbnail image on alternating sides of the content pane, so it looks kind of like a flip-flop, with each product image being over the next products description etc.  Example here: http://www.haslerinc.com/products/folder_inserters/

I figure this need s to be a custom module.  ive followed the beginning of the DNN4 module developers guide, but Im a little confused at this point.  All of the data access I need is already in the db by default (Im assuming I will use GetTabsByParentID to find all tabs to display on the flip-flop).  For now assume I dont need a description, I just need the child tabs and then I can go look up the images, etc based on info from the child tab itself.

The Survey example actually seems overkill for my module here, and I think thats whats confusing.  Im not exactly sure what files I still need, when I dont really need options, edit, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

-Chris

I wouldn't use real pages for your products, if possible use a database table instead, this will make it easier to update information and create directories. HAve you had a look at propertyAgent module from www.Ventrian.com just to get an idea?

The funny (or rather not so funny) thing is that is exactly how the product (and product index) pages work right now.  We're getting away from database driven because we need a content management system for the whole company (internal, external, employees, dealers, etc) and figured DNN can be used as a CMS *and* allow for departments to manage their own content (like product information).  So far its mostly implemented and works just like how we want it......I no longer manage content, and marketing can get their updates whenever they feel like it.  The only rub right now is the "flip-flop" index page Im asking about.
