Hi
We are developing a module. The module has one set of DLLs but multiple screens. The DNN4 documentation states that you need to create a full installation for each screen but I read on some or other site that DNN was addressing this issue in version 5.
Is it possible to install multiple modules with one manifest install file and do you have an example of how we would do this.
Regards
Richard

You can install multple modules in one go in dnn 4 as well. Just define it all in one dnn file (manifest). You can included multiple <module> elements for each module you want to register during installation

hi, is it better to have multiple module nodes under the modules parent or would you prefer to have multiple folder elements? Do you have an example for it?

thanking you in anticipation

ah my wrong. yes, if you use multiple folder elements with each folder element having its own module definition.

Mind you: the name element of every folder node can be the same. the file would look something like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<dotnetnuke version="3.0" type="Module">
    <folders>
        <folder>
            <name>[ModuleName]</name>
            <friendlyname>[FriendlyName]</friendlyname>
            <foldername>[FolderName]</foldername>
            <modulename>[ModuleName]</modulename>
            <description></description>
            <version>01.00.00</version>
            <resourcefile>resources.zip</resourcefile>
            <modules>
                <module>
                    <friendlyname>[FriendlyName]</friendlyname>
                    <cachetime>[defaultCacheTime]</cachetime>
                    <controls>
                        <control>
                            <title>[ControlTitle]</title>
                            <src>[ControlSource]</src>
                            <type>View</type>
                            <helpurl></helpurl>
                        </control>
                    </controls>

            </modules>
            <files>
                <file>
                    <name>[moduledll]</name>
                </file>
                 <file>

                </file>
                  <file>

                </file>
            </files>
        </folder>
        <folder>
           <name>[ModuleName2]</name>
            <friendlyname>[FriendlyName2]</friendlyname>
            <foldername>[FolderName]</foldername>
            <modulename>[ModuleName2]</modulename>
            <description></description>

</dotnetnuke>
