Hello.

I tried setting up a development environment with DNN 4.9.3 Install version in VS2008 Pro using this document:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=s%2bGtSX0BJTM%3d&tabid=478&mid=857

In the step where it says to Start Without Debugging it displays the initial install screen with no icons and in black text with a white background.  Not the typical graphical install screen for DNN.

After getting through to the Run Database Installation Scripts screen, it shows the Installing Database Scripts ... progress bar constantly moving, but it never finishes.  I waited for an hour and it never finished.  I had to terminate it by closing the window.

Is this supposed to work?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

if the database script is running for more than 5-10 minutes, there is usually a permission issue, either on the sql server or on the file system (for virtual user "Network Service" by default).

Hello Sebastian.

Do you know why i get this error?

"The file Thumbs.db could not be found within the project templates.  Continuing to run, but the resulting project may not build properly."

I used VS2008 Pro to create a new web site using the DotNetNuke Web Application Framework template.  Whenever i do that, i tried it several times using the file system and HTTP and i always get the same error.

I have a feeling it is causing this problem to happen where the database script hangs up.  It hangs up everytime i try to use the DNN template to create a web site.

Thanks,
Tony

thumbs.db is a hidden Windows Explorer  file, caching thumbnails of images in the folder. Make sure, not to include it in any template.
