Hi,

I need to change the behaviour of the standard DNN user registration process but I don't know exactly where to begin. The functionality I need is the following:

1. A new user clicks "register" and fills in their details (name, email and so on)
2. When user clicks ok to finish registering, I need to take action based on their submitted email:
3a:   If the written email matches an email adress in a custom SQL table he should get mailed a registration confirmation link that activates his account when user clicks on it and then be able to log in immediately afterwards.
3b:   If the written email doesn't match any adress in the custom SQL table he should get a message saying the registration is pending and the admin has to approve the account before it gets active.

Most of this stuff is already built in as standard in DNN 4.x already, admin approval as registration setting "Verified" and registration with activation link as "Public". What I basically want is to add the part "3a" with an additional check against a custom SQL table and combining public and verified registration. This should be more than doable by modifying the existing DNN code but I'm not sure in what files (and functions) in the core source that all this is being handled.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I made some logical mistakes above, the proper text should be:
...

...
