There must be an easy way to do this - but I'm not having any luck.

My DNN instance is running on http://localhost/testsite

How do I retreive the string "http://localhost/testsite" for the module I'm building?

There may be an easier way, but I've used the following before:

Dim appURL As String = DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.AddHTTP(DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.GetDomainName(Request))

We Used

"http://" & Request.Url.Host & Request.ApplicationPath

it worked for us

Thanks - now I have to figure out how to build the URL if it is a child portal with human friendly url's.

For instance, consider this url:

http://www.mysite.com/childportal/home.aspx

I would want to retrieveor build the string: "http://www.mysite.com/childportal/"

Any ideas?

I have found that this works quite well.

"http://" + PortalSettings.PortalAlias

I believe this is the right code...basically you want the value of the current portal alias.  This way if a child it is correct, if it is a parent it is still correct!
