Hi,

In my projrct i need to display a message with read more.... in my home page. when we click read more it will redirect to another page how should i do this. and i need to display top 5 of all latest updats in my home page. how should i do this.

Joseph-
A potential solution will depend upon what you are using to display the content that "read more" leads to.  Are you using a blog module?  Individual text modules?  Forum entries?  Are you wanting to simply display a title that users can click or do you want to display a summary (or maybe the first few lines of an article) along with your "ream more" link?
 
Normally what you describe is done using a blog module or a more general "articles" module like Ventrian NewsArticles or Engage Publish.  What you place on your homepage will depend upon the module(s) you want to link to that display the content.
