Can anyone advise as to where I might have gone wrong setting up my development environment? I've read all the documentation I can find, but to no avail. Basically I've installed DNN 4 (I've tried both source and non-source) and run it locally through IIS on my workstation - works no problem. I've then downloaded the Events module (source) and installed that just like a normal module - also works, fully functional, no problems.

I've then gone to edit the Events module in Visual Studio 2008 but I get lots of compilation errors. They all seem to be declaration errors," i.e. Error    30    Name 'EventCalendar' is not declared." because the code-behind is trying to access controls in the UI that it can't "see" (sorry I don't know the technical term for this). Adding a breakpoint when the code is running results in a "Breakpoint will never be hit - Symbols not loaded" error.

Any ideas anyone?

Chris

Chris,

Be sure that the actual source files, have actually been extracted from the download.  They are typically inside a "Resources.zip" folder.

Hi Mitch, Thanks for your reply. However, I did unzip the resources archive as part of my dev install, so I do have the code-behind source files too.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the pointer - but what exactly am I looking for in checking the project references?

Cheers
