I am a DNN newbie. I am not sure this is the correct forum for this post, but I did not get any response for my last post so I try different forum.

I am implementing my company web portal based on DNN 4.0.2. Since registration is limited to employees only, I need to authenticate users before they can register to the company portal.

To do this, I plan to create a module which will be place in a page, when user click on register button in the logon page, they will be direct to this page to enter their employee id. If the employeeID is validated, user will be direct to the DNN registration page, which is viewed by employee role only.

Will some one please tell me if my plan is feasible with DNN 4. Do you know any 3rd party module that provides this functionality?

Thanks for your help

you do not need any additional module, as DotNetnuke comes with registration alternatives (in portal settings):

  • use "none", if the admin shall enter all user's data. No register link will be shown
  • use "private", if the admin has to acklowledge each new user, before he can get access. Users get automatically emails, when they finish registration and after approval.

Thank you for your response.  There is a situation that we have more than180,000 potential users for our company portal and we want then to be able to register at will, and we are not able to manually approve each registration. We need a way to get their employeeID input to validate against our employee table to approve the registration.
