Hi there,

I'm newbie and I don't understand this sentence "If the module contains any extra user controls they should inherit from UserControlBase"...
question:
In my DNN module project I've "usercontrolOverview.axc", "usercontrolDisplaySmall.ascx", "usercontrolDisplayBig.ascx", "usercontrolDisplayMaintenace.asc"

so 4 usercontrols...

Those 3-usercontrolDisplaySmall.ascx", "usercontrolDisplayBig.ascx", "usercontrolDisplayMaintenace.asc"
are registered in "usercontrolOverview.ascx". and the settings in "usercontrolOverview.ascx" decide which usercontrol to display.. (visible=true/false)

All the 4 usercontrols inherit from PortalModouleBase.... and I've for all usercontrol separate localization file.

so I don't understand then what "Vicenc Masanas" means... if you extra usercontrols they should inherit from UserControlBase?

anyone can explain this?

Using built-in localization features
Normal DNN controls will inherit from PortalModuleBase, which has built-in support for localization. If the module contains any extra user controls they should inherit from UserControlBase to be able to use the same localization features. There is also a PageBase class that can be used to provide localization to any extra aspx page the module contains.

I believe he means if your original ASCX file imports (injects) any other ASCX files into itself, those files should inherit from UserControlBase rather than PortalModuleBase

I think I got it.... I think he means. If you're going to use "THE SAME localication file" in other words 1 localization file e.g. Resource1.resx  for all usercontrols you have then you should use "UserControlBase".

because I've used 4 usercontrols and 4 localization files and it works.  So If I want to use 1 resource file for localizatoin for all 4 usercontrols they should inherit from Usercontrolbase..

thanks,

everyday learning more and more about DNN :)
