Have anyone sucessfully convert an existing DNN3 module to 4 using WAP?  I tried but got ton of errors.  In the dnn3, you have name space company.modulename.BUSINESS and company.modulename.DATA.  Many of the objects in these name spaces were shown error.  The the WAP, is there restriction to one name space?

Some questions regarding the conversion of the user controls (ascx-Files) to the web-application format:

The conversion adds a designer file to mycontrol.ascx, namely mycontrol.ascx.designer.vb. All the declarations in there are logical to me, but why do these declarations not exist in the web-site format?

Furthermore, if i pack my module to a zip-File for distribution, how does the dnn-manifest differ in the two setups:
a) Web-Site: include mycontrol.ascx, mycontrol.ascx.vb, all the App_Code-files (mymodule.dataprovider.vb...)
b) Web-Application: include mymodule.dll, mymodule.sqldataprovider.dll, mycontrol.ascx, mycontrol.ascx.vb(?), mycontrol.ascx.designer.vb(?), or are the latter two vb-Files included in the dll?

1. You can read up on the WAP model here, maybe it will help you to get your answer:

2. As Bert already mentioned, with this model you don't have to package the source code - but if you wish to it would be easiest to package the module normally (withouth source) and then add resources.zip to the installation which contains all the source code files and upon unzipping copies them to the root of your module.

mcsenow,

what kind of errors are you getting - although because of the model similarity it should go smoothly it would be maybe best to checkout this tutorial from ScottGu, outlineing the process of conversion from VS2003 web project model to VS 2005 WAP:
